In 2022, as composer in recidence for Viften Youth Center, Ærø, an electroacoustic bicycle orchestra was developed in cooperation with a group of kids from a workshop beneath the local public school.

As a concept, I wanted to give youngsters below 15 yo. the possbility to also make loud sounds as the elder generations did with their mopeds. Thus, I did a series of workshop sessions with a small group of kids on how to add an electroacoustic soundsystem onto pedal-bikes with simple tech of homemade contact microphones and cheap-battery driven guitar amplifiers. The result was an amplified variation on the old trick of putting cardboard in the wheels of pedalbikes to make motor-sounds. As part of a special theme-event for parents and other interested, we did a bike-parade and a performance with the bikes in a concert setting.
